2016 Medicare Supplement Changes

Changes to some types of Medicare plans occur every year. If you have a Medicare Advantage red curved arrowplan or Part D plan, you’ll receive a notice of plan changes around late September/early October detailing the benefits of your plan for 2016. However, this is not the case with actual Medicare Supplements.

Four things most people that HAVE a Medicare supplement don’t know/understand are:

  1. Coverage doesn’t change each year. It is “guaranteed renewable” and can never change.
  2. Coverage is standardized (i.e. a Plan F with one company is the exact same coverage as a Plan F with a different company).
  3. Claims payments are standardized (processed through the Medicare “crossover” system).
  4. Doctor acceptance is standardized (all plans can be used at any doctor that takes Medicare – no networks).

BUT… Prices vary considerably. AND… Many companies go up each January 1. So if you’ve had your plan for more than a year, you can typically save money for the same plan, which will be even more important in 2016 with Medicare costs going up and Social Security staying the same.

Rates are sent by email. As a national, independent brokerage, we help you compare all options in a centralized place. [VIEW TESTIMONIALS]

Your request will go, securely, to one person at one company (SMS). Because we are an independent brokerage, you will receive Medigap rates for companies for your age/zip code. As a brokerage, we work with all of the companies so that you can compare. There are plenty of other web sites out there whose only mission is to obtain your information and sell it to 7-10 different agents who will call, email, write (maybe even show up at your house!). If that is what you are looking for, please check elsewhere. For references of our service and ability to save you money, please visit Why Choose Secure Medicare Solutions.
